A bird watcher’s paradise. Lake Nakuru is very shallow and strongly
alkaline. It is set in a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodland
and grassland. The lake catchment is bounded by Menengai crater to the
north, the Bahati hills to the north east, the lionhill ranges to the
east, Eburu crater to the south and the mau escarpment to the west.
Three major rivers, the Njoro, Makalia and Enderit drain into the lake.
Here
you will find the Flamingos (Greater and Lesser), 56 different species
of mammals that includes white rhino and black rhino.
Facilities
include Naishi guest house and Flamingo Guest house. There are lodges
here such as Lake Nakuru and Sarova Lion Hill. Also available are
special campsites such as Naishi, Soysambu, Chui, Rhino, Nyuki, Nyati,
and Reedbuck. Makalia and Back Packers are public campsites. There are
also picnic sites such as Acacia, Out of Africa and Lion Hill |
